Dunacorso

Hands down the best goulash in the city.

One of Dunacorso’s standout features is its picturesque terrace overlooking the Danube, providing an idyllic setting for a romantic dinner, a special celebration, or a relaxed evening with friends. Diners can enjoy a truly magical atmosphere with live Hungarian Gypsy music every night.

What to eat: goulash soup (bowl), paprika stew of veal, stuffed cabbage, Wiener schnitzel

Lámpás

One of our favourite underground ruin bars. Lámpás offers live music almost every night, with regular jam sessions throughout the week and open mic nights every Sunday happening as well. Best place to be for an aspiring musician or if you just want try yourself out!

Budapest Jazz Club

One of our favourite venues of Budapest, it’s a must visit for all jazz/music fans around. Concerts are happening almost everyday, with late jam sessions several nights. Best Hungarian and gypsy jazz musicians are performing and their kitchen is worth checking out too!

A38 Ship & Akvárium Club

A38 Ship is one of the most iconic concert venues and cultural centers of Budapest. Covering a wide range of genres, we’re sure you’re going to find a concert to suit your taste during your stay. Don’t forget to check their website!

Located in the heart of Budapest, Akvárium is a great club and concert hall open all year round. Offering great parties and live events, it’s an ideal place to hang out with locals and listen to Hungarian bands!

Budapest Park

Budapest’s biggest open air concert venue is open from May until October. The biggest Hungarian bands and international acts perform here daily. Check their website or Facebook page for the events!

Palace of Arts (Müpa)

Although a bit outside of the center, Palace of Arts offers a wide range of programmes from classical musical concerts to more contemporary pop-rock performances as well. Be sure to check their website!

Mazel Tov

Mazel Tov is loved by locals and tourists alike. It can be found in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, offering amazing Midle Eastern food and great cocktails. They host live music performances every evening from 8pm. Although they don’t only offer vegetarian food, there are lots of meat-free options. Reservation is recommended!

Szimpla Kert

The biggest and most popular ruin bar in the city. Since 2002 it has played a significant role in popularizing the ruin pub culture in Budapest. Although expensive for most locals nowadays, it is still a must-see destination.

We recommend having here a few drinks before heading over to a more affordable ruin bar later in the evening.

Szimpla Kert also hosts live music performances regularly and a Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 9 AM until 2 PM.

UdvarRom

Now this is a place most locals still love to visit. As it is where the locals go, the drinks are cheap! The place is also packed with arcade/bar games, pool tables, darts, and a dancefloor downstairs!

Instant-Fogas

The biggest ruin nightclub in the city. It’s a giant, with many rooms that play different genres of music so everyone will find the room most suited to their taste.
