Two of our favourite bakeries in Budapest, they offer a wide range of unique pastries and excellent coffee. Ideal place for a quick breakfast!

Although most locals eat breakfast at home, lots of brunch places have popped up around the city in recent years.

One of our favourites is á table! which is a cute French-style pâtisserie serving a great variety of breakfast dishes throughout the whole day. With over 10 locations in Budapest, you can be sure that you are always close to one of them!

In the late 19^th century, it was considered to be a center-piece of a golden age. Where struggling artist and writers, on a few cents, would buy a table for an entire day (don’t try that today, of course) and would often eat on the dime of the waiters who were familiar and appreciative with the literature. Back then things weren’t about the money, but about identity, they wanted to attract the best and the brightest even if they didn’t have money. One of the last remnants of this golden age today, a must visit!

The confectionery has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. It was founded in 1827 and has been serving its delightful treats for generations, making it one of the oldest confectioneries in Budapest. The interior of Ruszwurm retains its historic charm, with a cozy and vintage atmosphere. The decor and furnishings transport visitors back in time, creating a sense of nostalgia and tradition.

Visiting Ruszwurm is not just a culinary experience but also a step into Budapest’s rich history and cafe culture. It’s an excellent spot to indulge in traditional Hungarian pastries while soaking in the historic surroundings of the Buda Castle District.
